Personal Values

Honesty - the act of being truthful to oneself and others. I insist upon honesty from my team members, and they can expect the same from me. Without honesty, the team will fail to meet its goals.

Loyalty- the act of being true and committed to a person, group or cause. I insist upon loyalty from my team members, not only to me, but to the county. I will remain loyal to the county and its team members by supporting them in both good times and bad.

Commitment- the act of being dedicated and supporting both the county and its members. Like honesty and loyalty, commitment is very important to me. I will remain committed to the county, its mission and its team members. I will not abandon my team or fail to provide them with the resources they need to succeed. I expect the same commitment from the team members.

I will rely on my situational leadership skills to see that the county continues to meet the needs of those who depend on it. I will select the right people for the job and see that they have what they need to complete any given task. I will assist team members in acquiring the tools and/or skills needed to complete a given task or complete our mission. 

I will take the time to teach my team members all that I know, so they can produce the results that I expect. By utilizing my leadership by teaching skills, my team members will be well equipped to handle each, and every task given to them. 

I will identify the proper personnel for a given task and delegate to them the duty to complete that task. Delegations of duties are very important to me, because I feel that it empowers my team to do their best. When I select someone to complete a task, I will not micro-manage them.  Allowing them to work on their own until a task is completed gives the opportunity for team members to prove what they can do.

I will strive to provide a clear direction of duties. My directions and goals will be made clear to everyone. Without clear direction, I cannot expect my organization to prosper. Successes will only occur when everyone is working towards the same well-defined objective. 

I expect team members to complete tasks with little or no direction.  I limit my involvement with team members so they will find solutions to problems on their own, thus building confidence to complete future tasks. 

I expect team members to work with the county’s priorities in mind and I will make sure those priorities are clearly defined to avoid misunderstandings or confusion.  

Disobedience – Disobeying direct orders or not following established policies will not be tolerated.  Everyone is expected to always act professionally while they work to complete each task given to them.

Personal Negligence- I expect everyone to take personal responsibility for their actions and appearance. I will not accept any excuse for being personally negligent. 

Misbehavior- I will not tolerate misbehavior of any type. Misbehavior at work, or on a personal level, is not acceptable. A person who cheats, lies, or lacks high morals, or integrity, has no place in this organization.  

Organization - My job is very important to me because without it, I could not provide for my family. Work also gives me a sense of self-worth.

Employees - Without dedicated and trustworthy employees, I will not be successful. My success as a leader depends upon my ability to motivate and inspire my employees to hold the same goals as I do. Employees are the backbone of this organization. 

Family - My family is my main priority, and I would expect each team member to be like-minded. Without a strong and happy family life, work will suffer.

Tardiness- I expect team members to be on time for work, meetings and complete all task within the time allowed.

Disrespect- I expect each team member to show respect to the organization, other team members and myself, but most of all, to the citizens in which we serve.

Being Unprepared – I expect team members to come to work prepared to handle whatever situation arises. Team members will also be expected to be prepared for meetings and events.
